Check out all our expert NRL tips for Round 6 below:

Game 1 – Melbourne Storm vs Sydney Roosters, Thursday 6th April, 7.50pm

The Roosters have been tough to read this season - their Round 1 defeat to the Dolphins was a major shock but since then they have bounced back with three straight wins against some quality teams.

Similarly, the Storm have been up and down, making this game a real challenge for punters. Craig Bellamy is a perfectionist and hasn’t been happy with aspects of his team’s game and they currently sit two points behind the Roosters with three wins and two losses.

I don’t even want to try tipping a winner here but one thing I am confident in is the way both teams pride themselves on their goal-line defence. The Storm could have conceded half a dozen tries against Souths last week, but their last-ditch defence was superb and that’s what won them the game. Taking that into the equation, I think taking the unders is the safest bet here.

Expert NRL Tip: Total Points – Under

Game 2 – Canterbury Bulldogs vs South Sydney Rabbitohs, Friday 7th April, 4.05pm

Another tricky game - the Bulldogs are proving stubborn opponents in the early rounds and Souths have been off their game most weeks. Two wins and three losses is not where Souths should be, although injuries have played a part in their plight.

The Dogs are buzzing this week following that incredible golden point win over the Cowboys, while the Rabbitohs were clunky in going down to the Storm in a game they were expected to win. Despite all this, the Bunnies are firm $1.30 favourites.

The Rabbitohs have the fire power to win the game but covering the 6.5 points start could be a worry. Latrell Mitchell has had a slow start to the season and the critics are starting to get on his back. That’s when he usually responds, and I like the return of a Latrell anytime try.

Expert NRL Tip: Anytime Try Scorer – Latrell Mitchell

Game 3 – North Queensland Cowboys vs Dolphins, Friday 7th April, 8pm

Two teams who have been hard to read in this topsy-turvy start to the season clash in Townsville. The Cowboys were the big surprise packets of 2022 but have had an underwhelming start to the new season with two wins and three losses.

Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins started their maiden season in such spectacular style with three straight wins but the bubble has now burst with back-to-back losses. Much of that can be put down to the loss through injury of their two playmakers, Sean O’Sullivan and Anthony Milford.

The 38-12 thrashing by the Dragons last weekend will sting and if the Cowboys finally get it all together, another big loss could be on the cards in Townsville. The Cowboys are still missing some key personnel but have enough experience to cover the 9.5 point handicap at home.

Expert NRL Tip: Handicap – Cowboys

Game 4 – Penrith Panthers vs Manly Sea Eagles, Saturday 8th April, 5.30pm

Almost unbeatable over the past two seasons, the Panthers have come back to the field in 2023 with a 2-2 start to the season. And a Manly side with plenty of strike power will challenge them in what shapes as one of the games of the round.

The Sea Eagles have put the disasters of last year behind them under new coach Anthony Seibold and are sitting in fourth spot on the ladder, one point ahead of the Panthers. Despite their early struggles this season, it will take a brave punter to tip against the Panthers at home given their amazing record there in recent years.

Both sides like to give the ball plenty of air and it should be another high scoring affair on Saturday night. With that in mind, I like a Panthers win combined with Brian To’o to score an anytime try.

Expert NRL Tip: Match Winner – Panthers

Game 5 – Brisbane Broncos vs Canberra Raiders, Saturday 8th April, 7.35pm

When the Broncos cut loose, they are as exciting as any team in the NRL - and that’s bad news for the Raiders, who are still licking their wounds from a 50-point hiding from Penrith. The Broncos charged to an early 28-0 win over the toothless Tigers last week before taking their foot off the pedal and I expect a similar scenario at Suncorp this Sunday.

With Adam Reynolds calling the shots, the Broncos’ outside backs are getting plenty of time and space. This has meant that the likes of Selwyn Cobbo, Kotoni Staggs and Reece Walsh are cashing in big time.

Canberra already looked a lost cause in terms of the finals battle and only the Tigers are going worse than them at the moment. I’m that confident of a blowout that I like this SGM: Brisbane to win by 15+ points, Brisbane first to 20 points and Brisbane halftime/fulltime double for $2 on Dabble.

Expert NRL Tip: Double Result – Broncos-Broncos

Game 6 – Gold Coast Titans vs St. George Illawarra Dragons, Sunday 9th April, 4.05pm

The Dragons are travelling better than most people expected after five rounds and have named the same 17 that easily beat the Dolphins last week. The Titans have been hit hard by injury, losing backline strike players AJ Brimson (hamstring) and Kieran Foran (calf) but at home, always give a good account of themselves.

Ben Hunt is killing it for the Dragons and he’s going as well as anyone in the NRL week in, week out. His combination with fullback Tyrell Sloan has been a highlight in recent games and they will test the Titans’ defence.

The home side will be relying on the strike power of Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and David Fifita up front but the Dragons’ defence up the middle looks stronger this season. It’s shaping as a tight game, but with the Titans’ injury woes, I like the Dragons, who are the underdogs at $2.05 on the Dabble app.

Expert NRL Tip: Match Winner – Dragons

Game 7 – Newcastle Knights vs New Zealand Warriors, Sunday 9th April, 6.15pm

This could be the toughest game of the round, with both teams in good early form. Both have improved on last year in the early rounds but can still produce the odd ‘shocker’.

The Warriors come into the game full of confidence after their stunning win at Cronulla last week, where they trailed 20-0 early before storming home for a memorable win. And they will be strengthened by the return of key duo Te Maire Martin (head knock) and Tohu Harris (knee).

The Knights have suffered a blow, losing in-form five-eighth Tyson Gamble (head knock). His replacement Phoenix Crossland doesn’t really do it for me and that places more pressure on Jackson Hastings. The bookies agree there is very little in this and again I like the outsiders - the Warriors at $1.92.

Expert NRL Tip: Match Winner – Warriors

Game 8 – Wests Tigers vs Parramatta Eels, Monday 10th April, 4pm

The poor old Tigers have become the joke of the league and face the prospect of another thrashing at the hands of the free-flowing Eels. The Tigers were competitive in their first few games - but they were against lowly-ranked teams and their first game against a genuine contender - the Broncos last week - wasn’t pretty.

The Tigers did take the points last year in one of the upsets of 2022 but the man who kicked the memorable field goal to snatch the game, Jackson Hastings, has been shown the door and is now playing great footy for the Knights.

Tigers coach Tim Sheens has again shuffled his halves, bringing Adam Doueihi in the partner the embattled Luke Brooks. For the Eels, back-rower Shaun Lane, one of the stars of last year’s Grand Final run, plays his first game of the season after suffering a broken jaw. I just can’t see the toothless Tigers getting anywhere near the Eels. Parra 13 plus looks a safe bet.

Expert NRL Tip: Winning Margin – Eels 13+
